Staff and Leadership
(from left to right)
Ryan Slessenger (Elder)
Ryan was born and raised in Sutton and always believed in Jesus since a very young age. He is married to Lia, who he met whilst serving in missions and they have 3 young children together – Sofia, Lucia & Zack. Ryan runs a family electrical business which lights up historic buildings and this allows him to serve the church (old ones anyway) and pay the bills! He served in missions with Operation Mobilisation and studied on the Cornhill Training Course. He is passionate about seeing people grow in their faith and making Christ known in Sutton. And he's a huge Downton Abbey fan!
Jordan Fast (Elder)
Kathryn Ferguson (Women's Work Leader)
Gregor Ferguson (Elder)
Gregor grew up in a Christian home near Glasgow but has lived near Sutton for 18 years. He works as a lawyer and is married to Kathryn with whom he has four children. After many years attending Dndonald church in Raynes Park, including two years as a ministry apprentice part-time, Gregor helped to form the group which met from 2012 to plan and prepare for what became Hope Community Church, Sutton.
Lucy Fossey (Children's Work Leader)
Lucy grew up in Bromley, South-East London and is a Mum to Sam, Lily and Annie. She has been involved in youth and children's ministry in several churches across London. She studied on the "youth and children's" ministry course at Oakhill Theological College (where she met Mark). Lucy loves Jesus, the Bible, children and chocolate! She is passionate about applying God's word to the hearts of each and every child no matter what ability who are all fearfully and wonderfully made by Him.
Mark Fossey (Pastor)
Mark grew up in Enfield, North London and became a Christian aged 18 on a CYFA summer camp. He has been in full-time Christian ministry since 2002 working for a number of different churches in London. He studied at Oak Hill Theological College, then worked at Grace Church, Dulwich, before moving to Sutton to help start Hope Community Church in 2013.
He is married to Lucy, with three young children. He is hugely passionate about London and Londoners, that they would see that following Jesus makes more sense than following the multiplicity of other ways which don't work and don't save.
Tim Saunders (Pastor)
Tim has been pastor at Worthing Tabernacle, Barton Evangelical Church Canterbury and Cheam Baptist Church before coming to Sutton with a group from Cheam in October 2016. He is convinced that the Bible, as God's Word to us, is the best means to the greatest end - that is knowing God through faith in Jesus and bringing glory to Him. In recent months he has had the privilege of ministry in Pakistan, Russia and Western Europe. Tim is married to Ann and they have three grown up daughters. He is an active FA referee, lifelong follower of Brentford FC and Sussex cricket and has a keen interest in British natural history.
Johann deBono (Elder)
Johann grew up in Malta and became a Christian at Glasgow University in 1988, being involved with The Navigators there. He has served in different roles in Kirkintilloch Baptist in Glasgow; Parkhills Baptist in San Antonio, Texas; and Cheam Baptist. He is a doctor and scientist, is married to Hazel, and has three children. He helped plant Hope Church Sutton in a partnership involving Co-Mission and Cheam Baptist in 2015. He is passionate about sharing hope, curing cancer, his family, mountains, jazz and classical music and football.
